Ms. Nunes, originally from Ecuador, has over 30 years of experience in drug discovery, community engagement, and clinical trial diversity research. She began her career at Hoffmann-LaRoche in Nutley, New Jersey, and contributed to oncology and immunology research at Cannon Research Center, Atrium Health. From 2009 to 2020, she led initiatives at Duke University’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute to increase participation of diverse populations in clinical research. Currently, she consults with organizations dedicated to advancing health equity and inclusion in clinical research, partnering with healthcare, academic, and nonprofit groups to develop outreach strategies, educational programs, and training for Community Health Workers. Her work leverages her background in nonprofit leadership and expertise in creating culturally responsive programs, with a steadfast commitment to empowering communities and organizations to foster trust, expand access, and bring about lasting improvements in clinical research participation.
