Elissa Carney, Ph.D., is Director of Science, Mathematics, and Biotechnology Programs at UC Berkeley Extension, where she leads the development and management of continuing education programs serving professionals in the life sciences and healthcare fields. She holds a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics and brings experience spanning translational cancer research, higher education, curriculum development, and professional education. Her work focuses on identifying emerging workforce needs and translating them into accessible, career-relevant educational programs for adult learners. She develops and oversees programs and courses in biotechnology, clinical research, regulatory affairs, and related disciplines and collaborates with industry professionals and academic experts to ensure curricula reflect current practice. Her interests include strengthening pathways between scientific training and professional careers and developing educational opportunities that help scientists and healthcare professionals build skills for evolving roles in clinical research and the life sciences.
